Chickens

Our chickens are raised on grass. They spend their first 3 weeks in brooders where they can receive the proper heat and protection they need. Then they are moved to pasture. They are moved daily to provide fresh grass to eat and allows the grass to receive just the right amount of fertilization. They are fed an organic grain, but they enjoy nibbling the grass and eating the bugs.

We raise chickens in the spring and fall. The summer heat can be too much for them sometimes. They can be purchased fresh on the day that they are processed, usually the end of June and mid-October. The rest of the year, frozen whole chickens are available at the farm, while the supply lasts.

Cost: $6.00/lb.
