Pork

Our pigs spend their time in a fenced area where there is a shelter, food, and water. This fenced area is moved regularly so they have access to fresh grass and so the grass only receives the needed amount of impact and fertilization. They are fed an organic grain. The pigs also enjoy eating and rooting up the plants in their area, rolling in any mud they can find, and basking in the sun. They enjoy the windfall fruit that falls from the fruit trees in their area. They eagerly snort with excitement when we come to feed them.

We raise pigs throughout the spring and summer until the end of October. Customers can choose between purchasing a ¼-pig, ½-pig or whole-pig. Customers are given a cut sheet to inform us of the cuts they desire. The packaged pork is available in late-November. We take pre-orders for our pigs. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required for a ¼-pig, $100 for a ½-pig, and $200 for a whole-pig.

Cost: ¼-pig – $5.75/lb hung weight

          ½-pig – $5.50/lb hung weight

          whole-pig – $5.50/lb hung weight

Note: Hung weight is the weight of the animal after the hide, head, and organs have been removed, but before cutting. Finished weight is approximately 70-75% of the hung weight, depending on the cuts chosen.
